Empowering children.
Repairing grown ups.

Designing for kids is the the most challenging, and at the same time, the most rewarding design task on this planet. Kids do not read user manuals or ask for help. They are ruthlessly honest, and enormously grateful, often at the same time. The services must be intuitive, engaging and safe while catering to both the children's and their parents needs.

We believe digital services play a great role in preparing our children for a digitalized future, and we are dedicated to bringing them laughter and smiles as we help them develop in a safe and engaging way. And to be honest, coming in to work with the goal to rediscover the inner child is ridiculously fun!

Kids Mode is a treasure trove of fun, child-safe content.

We were appointed as the lead concept and visual design agency, responsible for all concept, visual, character motion and sound design, as well as helping it to evolve as the best mobile service for children available on the market today.

Our main aim was to create a friendly service for kids; a playground to grow, play and learn. At the same time, it was essential to create an easy-to-use application for parents, which would help them to monitor their kids’ mobile use.

It ended up becoming one of the safest, most fun, and most educational platforms for kids, which to this day has been preinstalled/downloaded to +150 million devices.

The importance of characters

To help kids navigate the app, we created a family of friendly characters. CroCro, for example, is the saw-headed crocodile who not only helps the kids find what they are looking for, but also tells them when to close down the app and put away the device.

Throughout the project, the characters evolved from simple Scandinavian 2D hand drawn illustrations to detailed 3D entertainers. They not only became more colourful, but more lovable too!
